Are You a Contender?
Reserve your spot to paint in this year's Art vs. Art. This year's winner-take-all purse is $3,000, and it only costs $10 to sign up. You collect 70% from the sale of your painting. In addition to Indianapolis, we're setting up Paint Days in Columbus, OH; Hammond, IN; and Louisville, KY.
- Wanna shot at the title? Register here.
Save the Art
This year, Art vs. Art heads to Broad Ripple for the final showdown! The Main Event takes place on Sept. 26 at the Vogue Theatre with a very special music guest following the crowning of this year's winner.
- Wanna help sponsor this event? Click here.
- Wanna volunteer? Drop us a line.
Some Art Will Die
For the Art vs. Art Main Event, we're always trying to come up with creative and menacing modes for the ominous Wheel of Death. In the past, paintings that did not sell were subjected to the baseball bat, samurai sword, acid bath, graffiti, or worse.
Got a great idea for a method of destruction? Let us know! You can explore past experiments at AvA Labs on our YouTube site.
Free Workshops
For the fourth year, we're teaming up with the Arts Council of Indianapolis to
bring you the Artist Professional Development Workshops: Summer Series. One FREE session remains:
Wed. Aug. 6, 6pm
PR for Artists and Small Arts Organizations
Arts Council of Indianapolis - 20 N. Meridian St., Ste. 500 (parking is available on the street or in the Circle Center Mall garage)
Space is limited, so please RSVP to artistservices@indyarts.org.
Fringe-tastic
We're pleased to continue our participation in the always creative and innovative Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival.
If you're signed up on our mailing list, you'll receive instructions for this year's Fringe Mob, which will take place on the opening day of the Festival on Friday, August 22. (In the past, we've Run with the Bull and staged a No-test Protest.)
For opening weekend, August 22-24, we'll set up the Home for Orphaned Art in the lobby of the Athenaeum and American Cabaret Theatre. When you attend the festival, bring in a piece that you no longer want or take an orphaned artwork home.
Allotropy Recap
Thanks to all of you who came out to the revival of Allotropy in May. Thanks to our 21 artists who exhibited and the bands that played. Thanks to our sponsors and to Bill Taft for generous use of his space in Fountain Square. And congratulations to William Denton Ray who won our Best in Show. For pictures from this year's event, click here and here.
