The Dust Settles

Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all for making this year's Art vs. Art a roaring good time! Thanks to our generous sponsors, our loyal supporters, our helpful volunteers, the Naptown Rollergirls, the Harrison Center, and the Vogue Theatre for helping make this a successful event.

We sold 47 pieces for a total of $5,035, with 70% going to the artists. In these economically perilous times, it's extremely gratifying to know that we have a community enthusiastic about supporting the arts.

And the Winner is...

Indianapolis artist Ryan Alvis, won the Butler Scion Grand Prize, a whopping Three Grand!

After the hoopla (the big check, the title belt, the serenade), he took the ultimate risk, putting his winning painting up for auction and facing the menacing Wheel of Death. The risk paid off as his painting fetched a record $825 at auction.

Art for Autism

"Hey, after your Art vs. Art artists paint their paintings, what happens to the used brushes?"

We're glad you asked. This year, we're ecstatic to announce that we're donating our used brushes to the newly opened Independence Academy of Indiana, a private, nonprofit school that educates middle and high school students with high-functioning autism.

Thanks to competing artist Dan Moosbrugger, who teaches at the school and approached us with the idea of putting the used brushes to a great cause!

The Best & the Brightest

Events like Art vs. Art take a lot of effort, so we're always looking for potential board members and committee people who embrace the arts in Indianapolis, who are creative and energetic, and who are brimming with great ideas to help us fulfill our mission.

If you're one of those people, drop what you're doing and contact Shannan Schaaf at sschaaf@primarycolours.org.

Support the Arts

Being an all-volunteer nonprofit, Primary Colours needs your help. Lots of help. So we ask you, do you enjoy the arts? Do you like what Primary Colours does and wanna help? There's so many ways you might be able to help. Just drop us line.
